CVLPOA 2009 Student Scholarship Awards

The Coachella Valley Chapter of the Latino Peace Officers Association (CVLPOA) awarded its 2009 Student Scholarships Award to three outstanding Palm Desert High School graduating students at the recent Palm Desert High School scholarship awards event at the Miramonte Resort in Indian Wells.

The annual CVLPOA scholarship is awarded to Coachella Valley area high school graduating students who will be attending college or university and who have excelled in academics, leadership, mentoring skills and volunteerism in community services.

The CVLPOA 2009 scholarship recipients: Hayden Rodarte, Ryan Sheehy, and Sarah Sullivan, all had academic excellence with GPAs between 4.94 to 5.23. All three students had many distinguished accomplishments, leadership roles, and had hundreds of hours of individual volunteer community service.

Rodarte, Sheehy and Sullivan were presented CVLPOA certificates of recognition and $1,000 each at the Palm Desert High School scholarship awards ceremony. CVLPOA scholarship awards presenters Gilbert J. Sandoval, Dan Devinny, and Miguel Gonzalez commended Rodarte, Sheehy and Sullivan for being remarkable role models for their peers and all youth in the Coachella Valley.

Hayden Rodarte and Sarah Sullivan will be attending Stanford University and Ryan Sheehy will be attending Georgetown University.
